The Parameters of Fitness…

Clearly, we can all have our own definition of what it looks and feels like to be fit. We set expectations for ourselves and others – potentially imposing different criteria on ourselves than we do for others. Our definition of fitness may evolve as we age with elevated and lower expectations in different phases of life. With all of that said, where does fitness start and stop? Strength. Endurance. Flexibility. Power. Anything else? Is balance a parameter of fitness? Cognitive fitness? Psychological fitness (mental health)? Okay…if you include all of these within your definition of fitness, how do you improve each of these? Is there a commonality of a stimulus and response for each. If so, will we someday arrive to the point that there is a known dosage that we can ascribe to improve and personalize for each individual?
