A Breakthrough in Exergaming?

One complaint that I’ve consistently elevated to companies in the “exergaming sandbox” is that they need to stop pretending that they’re dual tasking when in fact using the body as the joystick or the response device is truly only a think-and-move activity. It is not dual tasking. Only when the body is participating in a distinctly separate but measurable activity from what the brain is doing (decide to inhibit, hold information, calculate, process, generate)… then and only then can we truly have divided attention or dual tasking. Remember, when the body’s actions are spelling out or responding for the brain’s choices (as if there were a separation between brain and body) we don’t have divided attention we have a single task! It could be complex it could be challenging but it’s only one task, “I want to submit this as my answer” or “I want to move here” (with my avatar).

In the infamous words of Monty Python, “Now, for something completely different.”. EyeClick. EyeClick has paid me to consult for them, create this video, help them to create dual-task and single-task complex games. I am proud of what they and now we are doing. However, I do not benefit from sales in ANY way. That is my choice. I want to cleanly endorse the produce, irrespective of sales. If the games are engaging, I can work with them to create a larger library, more games for people to benefit from.
